He grabs a the wine bottle after she sets it down, and pours himself a glass. “Eh, just because you teach those classes doesn’t mean you have less work. In my music classes, I had homework every night. The reason you’re not under stress is because you’re such a good teacher.” He smiles as he take a sip out of the glass. “So, why are you sleeping on your office?”

Billie sips from glass slowly and pulls it away to chew on her bottom lip, thinking. “Well I don’t know if I’m a good teacher, but the kids get it so that’s good I guess. I was sleeping in there because I wanted to give people some privacy. I mean I know what it’s like when you’re all young and in love and it sucks to have a roomie always around. So I just started sleeping there. And thank you again for letting me stay here, it means a lot. Parkinson had offered his couch but I didn’t want it to look weird or something because of Loo.” Billie decided she talks to much and shut up to take another long drink. It would look weird if she slept over Parkinson’s place but she didn’t care how it would look if she stayed here, it was pretty obvious to others that she was infatuated with Hugh.

Hugh nods and continues. “Well, that makes sense. But why couldn’t you get a room of your own? It’s hardly fair, if it was a space issue, you could have come to me and asked for a spare room. Or just asked to share with me.” He sets the cup down for a moment. “Do you know how long you’re going to stay with me? The room’s empty from now until I retire, so however long you need.”

Before she knows it, her glass is empty so she pours another. She hadn’t touched much of any alcohol since she woke up late for her class the other week so she’s already feeling it hit her. “I had a flat but I left it because I wanted to live on campus. I didn’t even think of coming to ask you about a spare room, or about sharing. And just until I get my own place on campus, I wouldn’t want to impose and take over your living room and couch forever or something. Unless you have another room in here that you’re hiding,” she laughs and drains her glass again while studying Hugh’s face for a moment. Then it clicks in her mind, “Or did you mean share your room?” emphasizing the your, she was sure he probably meant it innocently, but her mind wanted it to be otherwise.

“Yeah, I’m sorry about the rooms, they usually stop offering them by the first quarter, but you can come to me for anything you need.” He turns towards Billie and replies “Eh, It’s not like you’re going to take up much space on the couch.” He laughs and continues on without thinking, “It’s not as if there’s a need to share a bed, but we could if you want.”He looks at her, and realizing what he just said, promptly turns away from Billie and leans back on the counter. He downs his glass and pours another. “Yeah, that, might have came out a bit fast.”
